Santas warned 'ho ho ho' offensive to women

SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

Sunday blue

Sunday is the day of the sun (uhmm?). It is supposed to be sunny, the weather must be lovely and the feelings must be positive. But all I can think of is tomorrow is Monday...

Sunday is so short if yesterday you went to party and got hang-over. Or if you stay at your boyfriend's place, your precious 3 hours of Sunday will be taken to go back home.

Sunday is the day that you think, well, I will sit down and reflect and will re-schedule your life, but all you can do it, hey baby let's watch 24 together.

Sunday makes people hurry their schedules. They wake up early to do housework. When the day is almost over, they pick up their favorite book to read, but their mind is thinking about what they should be doing on Monday.

Sunday is Monday in disguise.

Somtum

Somtum or Papaya Salad is one of my favorite food in the world. It looks easy to cook, but it is hard to cook it well. There are 3 main types of Somtum - Somtum Thai (sweet), Somtum Poo (with crabs) and Somtum Para (with fish water). The price is ranked from 25 Baht to 100 Baht. You can find it in every corner of the roads or any restaurants from poor looking to posh looking. How to cook it? The materials can be picked up from your own garden - raw papaya, tomatoes, beans, and garlic. For ingredients, they are always there at Thai kitchen such as fish source, lime, sugar, dried shrimps and chilli. If you like it to be salty, black crabs are the heroes.

Today Selene surprised me by taking me to a Thai restaurant in Langstr. (oooh..red street). Once we opened the door, Thai food smell touched my nose and I was welcome home. Her favorite food was fried beef in oyster source. I ordered Kai Palo, Oishi green tea and of course, Somtum Thai with crabs. The amount served was huge (maybe because I am Thai, hehe) and we couldn't finish it. I asked for the doggy bag for my Somtum. The price? since you can't find all these ingredients in the Thai kitchen, but in a farang country. It's undoubtedly expensive. I am not gonna tell you, but I know I should not go to any parties for a long while.

Back home, my Somtum started to smell. My boyfriend opened the window to chase away the smell. I opened the bag, poured it onto the plate, started eating and tried to convince him that nothing was wrong. He sat at the end of the room, looking at his girlfriend eating old socks or somewhat garbage. I smiled happily with my golden Somtum in my mouth. Ummm...I am home, I am home....

Return to the city

I realized that I am an attached person. Once I have tried something, it is so hard to let go.

I have stripped away those images of a city girl. I walk more, I talk face to face more than attach my ear with the cell phone (I admit that part of it is how expensive it is!), appreciate mountains, lakes, ducks, swan, color changes of the leaves, quietness, calm smell and relaxing atmosphere more. For the past 3 months, I smell like an uptown girl. If I could speak the local language here, my language would have an accent :-)

I am back to Zurich. My heart is filled with excitement. I am gonna meet my boyfriend! I am gonna shower myself with city life style! I am gonna say krüsi instead of ciao! I am gonna do this and that!! yay yayyy

Right after I walked off from the train at 11 p.m. The train station was still full of people, foreigners and noises. I forgot how to get to the meeting point where I passed several times 3 months ago. The train station was unbelievably huge than what I remembered. I forgot how it was like to cross the road 3 times in a roll, and hearing the horn honking and you thought it must be you who did something wrong. The streets were full with foreign take away restaurants, ranking from sushi to Thai food, from Kebup to Indian food. It looked busy and it a bit scared a little me inside myself. :-P

I just could not believe that I have already forgotten where I came from. C'mon babe, you're from City of Angel...hahaha
